Description
8/21/23 - This is a Spreewerk P.38 issued to the Nazi military in May of 1943. It is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 88" military acceptance proofs throughout. The serial number on the slide has a neat factory error - a backwards "c" in suffix. The gun comes as a rig with a very nice waffen-proofed holster, a blank magazine, and a scarce "U" marked magazine. The holster has the leaf-bearskin makers mark for the Albrecht Kind factory. This particular pistol was captured in November of 1944 by a pilot in the US Army Air Corps, Major Clayton E. Mason. Included with the gun is a 1986-dated letter, signed by Clayton, describing his military service and how he acquired the pistol, along with some photographs. The gun itself has lost the majority of its original finish with obvious thinning and splotchy discoloration throughout. Fitted with excellent period-correct reddish bakelite grips. Excellent, shiny bore with strong rifling. De-cocker is functional.Specifications
