Description

4/15/24 - This is a nice example of a rare Danzig Gewehr 98 rifle in its original sniper configuration. It is fitted with its original scope mounts, but there is no scope. Al metal numbered parts are matching except for mismatched bayo lug. Imperial German military proofs throughout. No visible markings on the stock, so it was likely sanded. The stock is mismatched internally, and handguard/stock are mismatched to each other. Virtually all of the original bluing is gone, except for under the front scope mount - this tells us it has been on the gun for a very long time! There are spots of oxidation and pitting here and there. Excellent wood stock. The rifling in the bore is fairly worn with surface oxidation throughout.
