Description
12/10/24 - This one is hard to explain but here goes: The frame and the slide are 2 different finishes yet the number inside the slide matches the frame. The slide is a high polish blue as it should be in an early (Crown N) PP. The finish definitely looks to be original. The frame is a dull, late war finish and also looks original (corrosion over the finish from age) but CAN'T be - should be high polish like the slide. Yet the numbers are matching. So, the best explanation is that the frame was refinished post-war. Yet the gun was kept together. Another clue could be the fact that it comes with wartime grips and 9m/m marked magazine. So while the gun was originally made in 1937, the frame and the parts seem to have been given a "make over" after 1943. 9MM is a rare caliber for a wartime Walther. The gun functions and will shoot well, but the hold-open doesn't work properly with this magazine. The bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there is a slight bulge in the barrel.Specifications
