9/30/24 - This is a beautiful example of a rare Smith & Wesson Model 13 lightweight revolver that was produced and issued to the US Air Force. About 40,000 were initially produced but only a tiny fraction remain as they were deemed unsafe and most were destroyed by the Air Force. Cylinders would split due to overpowered ammunition being used. 'PROPERTY OF U.S. AIR FORCE' marking on the back strap. Top of frame is marked 'REVOLVER, LIGHT WEIGHT M13'. Comes with original, near-mint holster that is also marked USAF. The gun shows virtually no signs of wear - barely even a hint of a roll mark on the cylinder. Mint bore. Barrel and cylinder are unnumbered. The grips are marked 'A 5' on the underside of the panels, and the left panel is correctly numbered and matching to the frame.
