Description
9/27/24 - This is an excellent example of a BYF 44 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1944. All matching with the proper military proofs. What makes this one interesting is the holster it comes with - it is a custom leather holster made by a GI. So this was likely a gun that this GI captured and carried with him for the remainder of the war. Scratched onto the back of the holster is a "diamond 5th", which stands for the 5th infantry division. There is also a gold "US" pin and two wedding bands woven in the leather braid. The smaller ring is made of gold, and the larger ring is made of silver (fairly tarnished). We assume these are the GI and his wife's rings. The gun itself is excellent and has retained about 96% of its original bluing. There is just minor high edge wear and a couple of dots of discoloration on the top of the slide. Fitted with period-correct black plastic Mauser grips. Comes with a proper "Waffen 135" marked Mauser magazine. Near-mint bore. De-cocker is functional.
