Description

1/14/25 - This is a very nice example of a Mauser C96 Broomhandle from 1911-15. All matching with no military proofs. This gun comes with a signed letter from the seller about how his father, a WW2 vet, captured this gun. It reads, "My father, Charles G. McCafferey Jr, served in World War II as a bombardier with the Eighth Air Force's 379th Bomb Group. He flew missions aboard a B-17 "Flying Fortress" stationed at RAF Kimbolton in England. During the war, my father acquired this Mauser C96 pistol from an infantryman passing through the airbase. The infantryman had recovered this pistol from the battlefield. Upon my father's passing, I inherited this historic firearm from him." The entire gun has been refinished and does not show a ton of finish loss. There is some high edge wear and wear along the left side of the barrel. Some pin-pricking under the bluing on the frame, most noticeable on the right side. Fitted with period-correct but mismatched grips. There is some light surface rust on the frame under the grip panels. The bore has decent rifling, but there is tiny pitting in the grooves.
