4/8/25 - This is a rare USMC-issued Colt Model 1905 DA Revolver, chambered in .38 Caliber. There were 812 1905 Revolvers made for the Marine Corps during it's short existence. It was part of the evolution of the M1892 DA revolver except that it had a special round butt frame and special diamond checkered grips that were special requests of the Marines. The butt is factory marked "U.S.M.C." over the serial number "No 297". The factory assembly number "255" is stamped inside the frame and on the yoke. It has retained roughly 75-80% of its original finish. The majority of the finish loss comes in the form of splotchy discoloration around the front edge / underside of the frame and on the cylinder. Nice checkered wood grips that are un-numbered. Minty bore.
