Description
1/23/25 - This is a nice example of a shooter grade Springfield M1 Garand. The serial number on the receiver dates to 1955-57. Springfield-marked barrel dated March of 1955. There is a DOD proof mark on the barrel. The stock on this rifle is in good shape, but does have some deep dents and scratches. There are no visible cracks on the main body of the stock. The front handguard has a small crack, however this crack appears to have been repaired. The stock is DOD stamped on the left side. There is also the "P" acceptance stamp on the front of the grip. The metal parts have retained about 90% of their finish. Most of the wear is on the gas cylinder lock and lock screw. The bore on this rifle is shiny and does have strong rifling. The muzzle reads at a 4, and the throat reads at a 2. As a shooter grade rifle this rifle may have parts that were manufactured by other contractors, however the receiver and barrel are Springfield.Specifications
