Description
6/25/26 - This is a 7.5" First Generation Colt Single Action Army revolver from 1904. It is completely matching and has all the proper markings. According to our consignor, this gun may have a possible connection to Cole Younger. Cole Younger (born Thomas Coleman Younger) was one of the most famous outlaws of the American Old West. He is best known as a leader of the infamous James–Younger Gang, which robbed banks, trains, and stagecoaches in the years following the American Civil War. Included with the gun is a hand-written letter from the consignor's great grandmother's both, Dan Conklin (written in 1951). The letter is translated/written out below. In the letter, he explains the possible connection to Cole. Obviously this connection is thin and cannot be proven. It is priced accordingly and would be much higher if one could prove it. In any case, the gun is in fair condition overall. The whole gun is covered in honest brown "attic" patina. No major damage. There is a small ding in the front sight blade. Fitted with worn period-correct hard rubber grips - there are some initials scratched into the inside that we can't make any sense of. The bore has some rifling remaining, but there is obvious pitting and oxidation throughout. Fully functional.
Translation of the letter:
