Description
5/26/26 - This is a scarce, "as new in box" example of a Manurhin-produced Walther PP Sport, chambered in .22 LR, manufactured in 1968. This is the highly desirable long-barreled (8.5") variation, coming complete with its original matching-numbered Walther factory box. The listing also includes its matching-numbered factory test target, two original finger extension magazines, the owner's manual, and a brass cleaning rod. This particular pistol remains in pristine condition, with virtually zero visible signs of wear to note, boasting a mint bore and sharply checkered, original marbled grips. Exceedingly difficult to upgrade.
Based on extensive Manurhin serial number methodology compiled by researcher Chuck Lake, this specific pistol's serial number (73911L) falls into a block often estimated for 1969 assembly. However, this specific pistol features a factory "68" date code stamped on the barrel (visible through the ejection port), definitively dating its production to 1968. It should be noted that Manurhin utilized a complex, non-consecutive lot production method where firearms shared a master 5-digit serial range (10,001 - 99,600) across multiple models and calibers. Because unused serial numbers from higher-production calibers were often rolled over and assigned to lower-production models like the PP Sport in later years, a pistol within this range could technically have been assembled anywhere up until the end of the model's production life in 1985. The "L" suffix properly designates it as the long-barreled variant.
