Description
2/18/26 - This is an excellent example of an antique Mauser C96 Broomhandle with the original, matching stock. Serial dates this gun to 1898, so no licensing is required. This is an early large ring variant, one of only 20,000 produced, all produced from 1897-1912. This firearm is all-matching throughout, including the original wood grips which are stamped with the matching serial number. The pistol has retained about 96% of its original finish, with most loss being high edge wear, and wear on the sides/bottom of the barrel which is common due to the wooden holster they transport in. This example has an interesting modification to the front sight, one we have not encountered before but it appears a hooded peep sight was added over top of the original blade sight base. There is also some wear on top of the front sight, and some pin-pricking on the front of the frame. The bore is bright, but is frosted throughout. The stock is the original, matching-numbered stock with "H. Mahillon" stamped on the right side of the stock. The lid of the stock cracked and appears to have been re-glued, but there is a significant piece of wood missing from end of the lid.
