Description
11/6/26 - For sale is a boxed Colt .22 Conversion Unit with the floating chamber, made to convert a Colt .45 Government Model or Super .38 automatic pistol to fire .22 Long Rifle. The slide is marked "COLT CONVERSION UNIT .22 LONG RIFLE" with the rampant colt on the left side and "COLTS MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on the right. The kit includes the slide and barrel assembly with the floating chamber, the recoil spring, and a 10-round magazine marked "COLT .22 ACE L.R. SERVICE MODEL." It comes in its original black Colt box labeled ".22 Service Model Conversion Unit (Floating Chamber)," with the inner label listing the parts, along with the original Colt instruction manual, which appears to be dated 1948. The slide has retained nearly all of its finish, with a couple of very light surface scratches and a few small dots of discoloration here and there. The bore is 9/10, shiny with strong rifling. The box shows wear with torn labels, and the manual shows creasing and edge wear, as shown in the photos. A great way to shoot your 1911 with inexpensive .22 ammunition.
