Broken 1898 Mauser C96 Stock - Repaired Lid

8/3/26 - This is an early Mauser C96 stock that was manufactured in 1898. The stock is serialized on the mounting bracket "12560". The mounting bracket is missing a screw just below the serial number, though it appears to be broken off deep in the hole. The mounting mechanism itself is fully functional with a tight spring on the latch. The body of the stock is in good shape with some sparse impressions in the wood, and about 2" of wear on the right side of the stock in the middle of the shoulder rest. There are 8 holes on the right side of the stock which appear to indicate that something was previously mounted here. The hinge between the body and the lid is in great shape with smooth travel and minimal play. The lid latch is also in great shape with a strong pressure but very smooth closure. The lid of the stock had previously cracked just above the hinge, and was repaired. There is also a chip on the bottom of the lid, about .5" that is loose and has not been glued.
