Description
3/25/26 - The Portuguese Army contracted with the Nazi Army to provide 5282 lugers that were delivered in February, 1943 with the SN range from 1m – 5282m. This luger falls within that range and has two E/135 Acceptance stamps and the E/N Test stamp and was designated as Model 943 by the Portuguese. Half of these had Parkerized finishes applied by the Portuguese as this one does (which is a flat black rust-proof finish) as they were sent for use in rain forest / jungle environments of Angola and Mozambique which were parts of the Portuguese Empire. 65% had walnut grips while the remainder had black bakelite grips. The Parkerized finish on this gun shows just hints of high edge and muzzle wear; otherwise, excellent. Even the safety bar and the interior of the gun is Parkerized except the spring and firing pin. Very nice bore with great rifling and just very light freckling in the grooves. There are a few flat spots on the checkering on the unnumbered walnut grip panels particularly near the grip screws but no cracks, chips or other issues. The magazine is a blued fxo E/37 with a black plastic bottom in excellent condition.
