Description
5/13/26 - The Portuguese Army contracted with the Nazi Army to provide 5282 lugers that were delivered in February, 1943 with the SN range from 1m – 5282m. This luger falls within that range and has two E/135 Acceptance stamps and the Eagle Test stamp and was designated as Model 943 by the Portuguese. Half of these had Parkerized finishes applied by the Portuguese as they were sent for use in rain forest / jungle environments of Angola and Mozambique which were parts of the Portuguese Empire. This one is blued. 65% had walnut grips while the remainder had black bakelite grips. This one has un-numbered Walnut grips. It comes as a rig with one un-numbered aluminum bottom magazine, an original "black widow" magazine, an un-marked Luger tool, cleaning rod, leather lanyard, and a Portuguese leather holster (it is numbered on the top flap but mismatched to gun). The gun itself has retained about 90% of its bluing. Both grip straps show some wear and freckling, but the front strap shows some heavy pitting around the edges (the same pitting can be seen on the right side of the frame above the grip panel). The majority of the actual finish loss is on the side plate and around the muzzle. The bore is mostly shiny with strong rifling, but there is some minor freckling in the grooves.
