Description
5/27/26 - From Tom Whiteman's personal collection, this is a near mint example of a Mauser 'byf44' P.38 with the police 'Eagle/L' designation on the right side of the slide. This P.38 has about 98% of its finish, with only minor loss existing as a small scratch about the serrations on the top right side of the slide and a few small handling marks on the front grip strap. There is an import mark present on the left side of the gun behind the trigger well, though it is covered by the left grip panel. The bore in this Mauser has a bright, mirrored finish with strong rifling. Comes fitted with period-correct dark brown bakelite grip panels which show no signs of chips or cracks. Comes with a period-correct 'jvd' marked magazine. Fully functional, including de-cocker.
The purchase of this firearm will come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Tom Whiteman stating that this is from his personal collection.
