Description
4/29/26 - This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1911A1 made in 1970 to commemorate the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during WW2 and the 25th anniversary of Japan's surrender. It is nickel-plated and is engraved with the locations of key battles during the war. The gun comes with 7 nickel-plated .45 ACP cartridges and a velvet-lined bamboo display case. On the inside of the display case is a photo of Japan's surrender in Tokyo Bay and a name plate that reads "World War II Commemorative, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, December 7th, 1941 - September 2nd, 1945". It also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Colt, a copy of a "Commemorative Colt's" pamphlet, and a copy of the "Colt's Commemorative Edition of The American Heritage Picture History of World War II" Book by C.L. Sulzberger. From the Certificate: "This is one of two issues commemorating the 25th anniversary of the ending of hostilities in this last great world conflict". The gun shows no actual wear from use, but there are some spots of light surface freckling and a few small spots of surface oxidation here and there. There is some rust on the barrel bushing. Fitted with smooth wood grips. Mint bore.
