Description
2/26/26- For sale is a very nice Civil War era M1860 Light Cavalry Saber with blade etching and decorative features. The blade is bright and shiny with no spots of rust or patina. Both sides of the blade are nicely etched, with a "U.S." on the left side and an eagle with a scroll that says "E Pluribus Unum" on the right side, with both sides also having floral patterns around the main design. The left side is also stamped with the manufacturer mark from "W. Clauberg" in Solingen, Germany, meaning the blade is a very nice imported example. The spine of the blade is etched with the words "Iron Proof". There are two or three very small blade chips. The handguard is brass with some mild patina and floral patterning. The handle is textured rayskin that has worn through in one or two spots to reveal the wood underneath. The metal scabbard is deeply blued with most of the original finish remaining and no serious damage. The fittings are a gold-colored brass with decorative elements on the sides of the fittings that would be visible when the sword was worn. Overall in excellent condition and a beautiful Civil War sword.
