SOLD - Colt 1911A1 - Naval Intelligence Office

2/21/23 - This is a nice, honest example of an original Colt 1911A1 that was manufactured in 1943. This was sold to us by the nephew of the vet who it was issued to, Lt. J. Walter Hamilton. The seller doesn't know many of the details around his uncle's service in the war, but he does have some photos of him and a letter from the Navy Department on Hamilton's completion of the Naval Intelligence course. This pistol would've been manufactured a little after the date on this document, so was presumably issued to him once he held the position of Naval Intelligence Officer. The seller let us take photos of the additional items but he wanted to keep the originals. The pistol itself has matching frame and slide with a Colt barrel that has small 'F' under the lug. There is some wear on the front edges of the frame and slide, and a small patch of freckling on the right side. Minor areas of finish loss here or there but no major patches of finish loss otherwise. Bore has a little freckling in the grooves but good condition overall with strong rifling. Excellent grips with no cracks.
