2/27/26 - This is an excellent example of a Colt Police Positive in .38 Special from 1934. It is all matching with a "U.S. Customs" marking on the back strap. Included with the gun is a photocopy of a factory letter for serial number "430995" that has an inventory number "66" on the butt of the frame. The letter states that it was delivered to Joseph A. Lorch, Colt's representative in Washington DC, on November 13, 1936 in a shipment of 8 guns total. Since ours has an inventory number on two away (numbered "64"), it's very possible it was in the same shipment. But we have no other supporting evidence, so we can't say for sure. This gun has retained about 97% of its high polish finish with very minor high edge and muzzle wear. While there is very little finish loss, there are small dings and scratches here and there. Fitted with excellent checkered wood grips. Excellent, shiny bore.
