2/22/26 - Here we have a beautifully engraved, commemorative Colt Single Action Army for sale. It is engraved by Roland J. Robidoux. Roland is a self-taught engraver who began the practice in the 1960's. Today, he is recognized as a master by the Colt Custom Gun Shop, the Colt Collector's Association, and collectors worldwide. He takes inspiration from the Colt master engraver, Lynton McKenzie. This piece was finished by Roland in 2008 to commemorate the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 and pay respects to those that lost their lives and to the heroes who responded. It is called the "Colors of Courage".
The gun is a 3rd generation Colt Single Action Army that was manufactured in 1979. The gun is in mint condition and has been well taken care of. It has a charcoal blue finish and screws that are fire blued. It has an exceptional amount of gold inlay, all of which is 24K gold. Some of the gold inlay features include gold hammer borders, gold serial number, gold flush inlay inscription, gold raised inlay of map of Pennsylvania and town of Shanksville (crash site of flight 93), gold raised inlay of the pentagon, gold flush stars on top of the barrel, and many more. The grips are made of ivory, and have oval rampart colts and 22K gold rampart eagles with 13 diamonds in each eagle. The bore of the gun is bright with excellent rifling. The gun has two extra engraved cylinders. One is fluted, one is not. It comes with a presentation box titled "The Colors of Courage" with a blue felt inside. The revolver's original grips are in the box. This listing also includes a wooden binder with documentation pertaining to the pistol and its engraving and development. It includes letters from Roland to the previous owner, a write up about Roland, a Certificate of Authenticity, a pair of white gloves, pictures of the gun, and much more. This listing includes the green carry bag in which all of this came to us.
