Description

3/2/26 - Here we have consecutively numbered commercial Mauser lugers manufactured in WW2. in 1942, due to the needs of the German military, the Mauser factory switched its pistol production from the P.08 luger to the P.38 pistol. As Mauser began P.38 production, the company needed to figure out what to do with the remaining luger parts it had stocked. It was decided to make commercial lugers to sell at home and build guns for police/foreign contracts. These two consecutively numbered guns were built for the German commercial market sometime between 1942-1944. They are some of the last Mauser lugers ever produced. They both have numbered parts, Mauser banner toggles, and Eagle/N proofs. Serial number xx44y has a blue rating of about 85-90% with wear over the grip straps, high edges, side plate, and both sides of the frame. The straw on the small parts is almost completely gone. The Eagle/N proof appears to be slightly different than other examples we have see. Because these guns were put together with left over parts, and many times in haste, this could very well be the original proof. This gun also does not have a chamber date. According to "The Mauser Parabellum" by Hallock & van de Kant, this could be correct. This gun has a proper fxo Mauser proofed magazine. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. Serial number xx45y has all of the correct proofs and markings as described above. The finish rates about 80-85% on this gun as well with the finish loss coming from the grip straps, the high edges and side plate, both sides of the frame and the receiver. The straw on the small parts is completely gone they show some dark spots of oxidation. This gun has a 42 dated chamber which is correct for these guns. Comes with the proper fxo Mauser magazine. Bore has strong rifling but there some pitting and frosting throughout.
