Description
10/14/25 - These are an excellent pair of Dienstglas 6x30 binoculars that were manufactured by CXN, the German government code for Emil Busch A.-G., Optische Industrie, Rathenow. These binoculars were developed in the late-war period and were made out of a red hue bakelite which is a plastic material. The decision to manufacture the binoculars out of bakelite was to preserve other essential materials such as metals for the German war effort. These binoculars are very clean with no cracks in the bakelite, and the hinges that open and close the binoculars are fully functional and smooth. The lenses are also very clean and can be adjusted easily. The left side by the eye piece is stamped "CXN" and the right side is stamped "Dienstglas", "6x30". The triangle manufacturer mark on the hinge plate in the center is also very clear. These binoculars also come with a leather neck strap which has a nice original patina. There are two repairs obvious repairs holding the binoculars together on the right side, but they are seamless as far as function, allowing for easy opening and closing. Though the optics are otherwise excellent, the rangefinder is no longer properly aligned/collated with the focus mechanism.
