Description
4/28/25 - This is a very interesting and historic Colt Banker's Special revolver from 1937. Seen in "Fitz Special" configuration, this listing is accompanied by the Colt archives letter stating it was shipped to the Manhattan School of Firearms for Morris Doob in August of 1937. Interestingly, Doob was of Jewish descent and competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the sport of rapid-fire pistol shooting. While true Fitz Specials are extremely rare, the archives letter does denote a 3lb. trigger pull, a common feature seen on Fitz Special revolvers. The bluing on the revolver is original, with standard high edge wear, some thinning on the cylinder and right side of frame, and a little bit of pinpricking near the Rampant Colt. Excellent bore. Other Fitz attributes are present, such as the cutaway trigger guard, bobbed hammer, and checkering on hammer and trigger. Some more background on Doob can be viewed in the attached photos. One image even shows Doob standing near a table littered with firearms, and one appears to be the revolver listed here.Specifications
