Description
9/3/26 - This is a rare DWM Model 1900 U.S. Test Eagle Luger. The DWM Model 1900 American Eagle "Test Luger" was purchased by the U.S. Ordnance Department in August 1901 for troop trials with the U.S. Cavalry. The Ordnance Board authorized an order for 1000 DWM model 1900 Luger pistols, that were delivered in two lots; with approximately 800 shipped 26 October 1901 (approximate serial number range 6,000-7,200 range) and the remaining 200 shipped on Oct 29 1901. This scarce pistol is serial number "6713" falls into the first shipment and is listed by serial in the book "1900 Luger, U.S. Test Trials" by Reese. This gun properly has no German export marking and the serial on the opposite side of the takedown lever. There is a small military flaming bomb proof on the underside of the upper receiver. All numbered parts are matching, but some of the small parts are un-numbered, including the firing pin. The gun's original finish rates roughly 70% with areas of obvious spotty wear and discoloration on most of the gun. Pitting on the grip straps. Noticeable scratch on the side plate. Fitted with mismatched wood grips - the left side has a noticeable gouge and a chip in the upper corner. Comes with a blank magazine - the base is noticeably rounded with a crack. The bore has decent rifling but shows pitting throughout.
