Description
7/16/26 - This is a very nice example of a scarce and early Colt Model 1911 from 1914. It has all the correct markings and has the proper early "H P" Colt barrel. This particular gun was issued to the Pennsylvania National Guard. As you can see in the photos, Clawson's Book has guns in this serial range having been sent to Brig. General Thomas J. Stewart, Harrisburg, PA. Thomas J. Stewart was an Irish-born American Civil War veteran, Pennsylvania National Guard officer, politician, and one of the most influential military leaders in Pennsylvania's history. He served as Adjutant General of Pennsylvania, the senior military officer in the state, from 1895 until his death in 1917, holding the rank of Brigadier General. Also included in the photos, you'll see an excerpt from the Springfield Research Service that confirms guns in the serial range were sent to "PENNA NG" or Pennsylvania National Guard. The gun itself has retained roughly 85% of its original bluing with thinning on the grip straps, general high edge/muzzle wear, some spotty discoloration on the left side of the slide, and some scratches and dings on both sides of the slide (mostly on the left side). Fitted with nice period-correct wood grips - some bruising on both sides. Comes with a proper two-tone lanyard loop magazine. Mint bore.
