Description

8/26/26 - This is a very nice example of an early Colt Government Model from 1914. It is all correct with all of the proper markings, a proper early half-moon rear sight, and a barrel marked with a "C" on the hood. This particular gun was part of a contract with the Canadian military. The included Colt factory letter confirms this gun was shipped to the Canadian Government Department of Military and Defense on September 24, 1914 in a shipment of 300 guns. It comes as a rig with one two-tone lanyard loop magazine, a 1918-dated canvas ammo pouch, and a scarce and period-correct tan leather holster (the name "JA Wilson" is written on the inside). The gun is in very nice condition for an early gun like this, especially a military issued gun. Its original high polish bluing rates somewhere between 85-90%.  These Canadian military contract guns are often very worn,  There is finish loss on the grip straps, some spotty wear on the left side of the slide and frame, and a few dots of discoloration on the right side of the frame. Fitted with minty period-correct wood grips. Very nice bore with great rifling.
