Description

12/7/17 - This is an early and original Springfield Amory M1 Garand with six-digit serial, manufactured in June of 1942.  This rifle has all correct and original parts, while also showing several signs of having seen combat during World War II.  All drawing numbers are correct for a 6/42 M1 Garand, and it has the proper (but faint) George Woody cartouche on left side of stock.  The stock is in very good condition but does show a series of notches, commonly assumed to be 'kill marks' made by the GI who carried this rifle.  The stocking swivel is also missing, as troops removed these because of the rattle they created, which would give away their position.  The receiver shows natural age and minor thinning, but no major finish loss.  The bore is minty.  Comes with a sling and a cleaning rod and kit in the butt stock.
