Description
2/20/26 - This is an uncommon Walther P.38 that was produced early in 1942, and comes with the original matching magazine. This was the 142nd P.38 ever produced in 1942, which was before they started introducing the letter suffixes in February. The earliest 'ac 42' examples featured E359 marked small parts, such as our example here. One of only ~22k of this variation, compared to ~100k of the later variant. This Walther is all-matching and correct. There is about 90% of the original finish still remaining on this gun. There is mild thinning and patina generally, and an area of surface pitting on the front left edge of the slide. This firearm comes fitted with period-correct brown bakelite grips that are E/359 inspection stamped. The bore is bright with very light signs of use, just minor hints of frost in the grooves. Comes with the original, number-matching magazine which itself is rare as "ac 42" magazines were only serialized until the "d" block, making them more difficult to find than matching magazines on earlier 1941 examples. Mechanically sound with full functionality, including working de-cocker.
