Description
2/16/26 - This is an excellent example of a very early production S&W Victory revolver that was issued to the U.S. Navy, which is marked on the top strap. This revolver was produced in 1942 with the serial number V3978 (one of the lowest serials we've encountered), which illustrates its position early in production as they were serialized from V1 to about V769,000 through 1945. This gun is all-matching numbered with the cylinder, barrel, and grip plate matching the frame. This Victory has retained most of its original finish with only hints of high-edge wear and some thinning on the front and back grip strap. While there is little finish loss, there are some surface scratches and a slight turn line on the cylinder. Chambered in .38 Special, this four inch barrel has a bright bore with minor signs of use. Fitted with the original wood grips (right panel is numbered and matching), there are no signs of cracks or chips in either grip plate. Mechanically sound with proper timing and lock-up. Grip screw does have rust on the head of it.
