Description
3/22/24 - This an original and good condition model 1868 French Chassepot bayonet. This example was produced in 1868 at the St. Etienne state arsenal and comes with the original matching scabbard. That scabbard is missing nearly all of its original blued finish but is free from dents, rust, or pitting. The blade itself has a few small pin-pricking spots and a few very light spots of pitting near the tip on the right side with no active surface rust. The crossguard does not retain any of its finish, but all the markings are crisp and clear. The solid brass handle has a dull look and a few tiny knicks here and there. Overall a relatively nice and matching example.Specifications
