SOLD - Matching K98 Bayonet With Frog (EC82924-01(Ohio))

8/29/24 - For sale is a great condition German K98 Bayonet. This bayonet comes with the original matching scabbard and correct frog. The scabbard has one small surface dent on the backside with no surface rust or pitting. The frog is in exceptional condition with no notable flaws other than the illegible maker stamp on the backside. There is some pitting on the blade along with bluing over top of it, leading us to believe that the blade has been re-blued; however, there does not appear to be any active surface rust. Ricasso is maker stamped E.u.F. Horstor. Bayonet is equipped with a pair of excellent bakelite grips. Waffen stamps can be found on the pommel, socket release button, and ball finial. One thing to note is the strange grey finish that appears throughout the scabbard, crossguard, and pommel; it either seems to be a natural heavy patina or an attempt at a post-factory phosphate finish. But the likelihood of being factory phosphate finish is next to zero as the bayonet producers hadn't started using that finish on the bayonets until late war, and this example was produced in 1939.
