Description
8/4/22 - This is a very nice example of a Eddystone Model 1917 rifle issued to the US military in 1918. The small parts are mostly marked "E" except for the bolt marked "W" and the cocking piece marked "R". The barrel is Eddystone and dated for September 1918. The finish is in good condition showing minor finish loss/thinning and oxidation throughout. The wooden stock is overall in good condition showing minor handling wear throughout with deeper dings here and there. The underside of the wrist has a crisp "P" cartouche and the left side of the stock shows clear "S" and "S.A.A." markings indicating arsenal reworking of some kind, explaining the mismatched bolt and the "W" marking at the tip of the forearm indicating a Winchester stock. Overall the rifle is in very nice condition and comes with a reproduction leather sling. The bore shows good rifling but has frosting and patches of pitting throughout.Specifications
