Description
7/28/26 - For sale is an original WW2 German Army Officer Dagger produced by Eickhorn. The cross guard is a second-type Eickhorn guard. The silver fittings of the cross gaurd have a very nice deep patina to them. The burnt-orange colored celluloid handle has no cracks or chips and is in excellent condition. The portepee appears to be original but is not tied correctly. There is some fraying in a few spots but it is in overall good shape. The patina on the pommel matches the rest of the dagger exactly and has engravings of oak leaves and acorns. Oddly, there are a few modern washers under the pommel of the dagger. The blade has the proper Eickhorn etched logo and is in very good overall condition, but there is a very slight upward bend in the tip, and the top of the profile is slightly off-center, with some light scuffing and sharpening/grinding marks on the point. The blade is excellent aside these issues, with full factory crossgrain visible throughout both faces, and aside from the uppermost region, the blade is unsharpened with a perfect profile. The scabbard is original, dent free, and has a nice patina-silver color. There is a lack of patina by the throat and the joints.
