Description
8/28/25 - The Inglis High Power No. 2 Mk I* was produced in Canada beginning in 1944 as a simplified wartime variant of the Browning High Power. Manufactured by John Inglis & Co. of Toronto, these pistols were made under license from FN after Belgium was occupied by Germany. The earlier No. 2 Mk I featured a tangent rear sight and stock slot, but the Mk I* eliminated these features in favor of a fixed rear sight to speed production. Issued widely to Canadian and Commonwealth forces, as well as supplied under contract to China, the Inglis pistols were the only large-scale wartime production of the High Power outside of FN. Approximately 150,000 No. 2 Mk I* pistols were produced, cementing their place as both a significant WWII sidearm and a key chapter in the global history of the Browning High Power. This one is all matching and has a mostly intact Maple Leaf decal on the front strap. It comes as a rig with a minty 1945-dated canvas holster (visible ink stamps on the inside), canvas belt, two magazines, cleaning rod, and lanyard. The gun has retained about 94-95% of its dull wartime finish with minor high edge wear, some areas of minor thinning, and some light freckling on the top of the slide near the rear sight and on the back strap. Fitted with period-correct black bakelite grips. Minty bore.
