Description

7/16/21 - This is an excellent example of a Mauser HSC sold in the commercial market in early 1941. The gun is all matching and has the proper "Eagle N" proofs. There is an engraving on the left side of the frame that reads "Zur. Erg. 30.1.41". We believe this to mean "In remembrance" on January 30th of 1941 - possibly for the death of a fellow soldier. We can't say for sure. It has retained about 97% of its original high polish finish. There is spotty wear on both straps and hints of wear on the high edges of the slide. There is a small area of minor pitting on the left side of the slide and tiny freckling on the straps. Comes with excellent grips and a period-correct magazine. Minty bore. NOTE: A helpful viewer has offered an explanation for the engraving. Rather than 'in remembrance', he suggests it may mean 'to supplement' or 'to complement', and is related to a speech Hitler gave on this date. January 30, 1941 was the 8th anniversary of Hitler being named Chancellor, and he "gave a speech before 18,000 people at the Berlin Sportpalast on the eighth anniversary of the Nazis' coming to power. Hitler declared that any ship carrying aid to England within the range of German U-boats would be torpedoed, and also warned the United States that if anyone on the American continent tried to interfere in the European conflict, Germany's war aims would quickly change."
