Description
10/20/26 - This is a Belgian Pieper "Bayard" Model 1908 pocket pistol in the scarcer .380 ACP (9mm kurz) chambering. Model 1908 has become the standard designation for this gun, after the date its U.S. patent was issued, but Pieper always called it the Bayard Self-Loading Pistol, or simply the Bayard Pistol. Made by Anciens Etablissements Pieper of Herstal, Belgium, the Model 1908 first appeared in 7.65mm around 1910, and the 9mm version followed in 1911. Most Model 1908s were made in 7.65mm, which makes the 9mm guns harder to find today. It is all matching, with the proper "CAL. .380 = 9 M/M MODELE DEPOSE" slide marking and the Bayard horse-and-knight logo on the frame. It has retained about 96% of its original bluing, with very minor high edge wear and muzzle wear. While there is not much actual finish loss, there is some spotty patina on the back strap and a couple of small spots of oxidation on both sides of the slide toward the front half. Fitted with black plastic grips. Comes with one magazine. Excellent bore with strong rifling, 9/10.
