Description
2/13/26 - This is an excellent example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 issued to the US military during WW1. It is all matching, "United States Property" marked, and has the proper flaming bomb and "Eagle Head" military acceptance proofs. It has retained about 95% of its original high polish bluing. There is general high edge wear, minor muzzle wear, an area of light flaking at the top of the front strap, and a small spot of wear/oxidation on the right side of the frame where it meets the barrel. There is also some light freckling on the right side of the frame and on the back strap. Fitted with excellent wood grips - the right side is numbered in pencil to match the gun. The bore has strong rifling with just some light frosting in the grooves.
