Description
2/5/21 - From the famed collection of Ralph Shattuck, this is one of the finest known examples of the rare DWM Model 1900 U.S. Test Eagle Luger. The DWM Model 1900 American Eagle "Test Luger" was purchased by the U.S. Ordnance Department in August 1901 for troop trials with the U.S. Cavalry. The Ordnance Board authorized an order for 1000 DWM model 1900 Luger pistols, that were delivered in two lots; with approximately 800 shipped 26 October 1901 (approximate serial number range 6,000-7,200 range) and the remaining 200 shipped on Oct 29 1901. This scarce pistol is serial number "6905" falls into the first shipment and is listed by serial in the book "1900 Luger, U.S. Test Trials" by Reese. This gun is all correct and original, with no German export marking and the serial on the opposite side of the takedown lever. It has just a small spot of finish loss on the top of the barrel, and very minor patina on the grip frame. Excellent grips with no defects. Terrific bore. Beautiful straw remains on the small parts. Original magazine with blank, wood bottom. It could be years before encountering another example this well documented and of similar condition.Specifications
