Description
6/13/22 - This is one of the finest existing examples of the extremely rare North American Arms Company produced Model 1911 from 1918. These are the rarest of all military contract 1911s, with only ~100 such pistols ever completed. In 1918, the U.S. government initially placed an order for 500,000 of these to be made by North American Arms Co. of Quebec, but they didnÄôt have the manufacturing or materials to even get the project off the ground. All completed examples were done so after the war, either as tool room examples or assembled from the parts on hand. A few distinct features include the uncheckered hammer, unmarked barrels, mainspring housing without lanyard ring, flaking of the finish and location of the serial numbers. The finish is original throughout and this is one of the finest known examples to hit the market. There is some common high edge wear, and the well known "flaking" these pistols exhibit can only be seen in small areas such as the right side of the frame on either side of the grip panel. The few known examples of the North American Arms 1911 are usually in much worse condition due to the poor quality of the finish. Barrel is correctly unmarked throughout. Bore is nice and clean with strong rifling, just a little freckling in the grooves. Two-tone magazine. The grips are minty.
