Fantastic US Soldier Scrapbook and Memorabilia Collection including SS Insignia

6/18/26- For sale is a fantastic US veteran's memorabilia collection, including a large scrapbook, discharge papers, and two sets of SS insignia. The largest item in the collection is the soldier's handmade scrapbook, including about 150 pages of photos, magazine cutouts, and other small pieces of souvenir paper. Many of the pages have significant handwritten notes detailing the veteran's thoughts and experiences of the war. The pages are held together with string so many pages are loose or detached but the pages are hand numbered, so the book can still be read in order or could be rebound. The highlight of the collection is two scrapbook pages that have been removed from the book and framed. One page has a large red swastika armband along with two aluminum embroidered "Deutschland" cuff bands. The bands have the expected aluminum threading and silver embroidery on a black background. Deutschland was one of the first armed SS units to be organized soon after the Nazi seizure of power. Deutschland participated in the invasion of Poland and was eventually designated as the 3rd SS Panzergrenadier Regiment "Deutschland" as part of the 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich". The second framed scrapbook page includes various emroidered SS collar tabs and patches, including four "SS 1" tabs, a medical officer's insignia, an SS skull, and two embroidered cap or tunic eagles. All have appropriate and matching stitching and construction patterns. Before the creation of the formal Waffen SS and the renumbering of regiments, "Deutschland" was numbered regiment 1, so these collar tabs match the cuff bands on the other page, which is exactly what you would expect to see from a collection captured from the same group of soldiers. The memorabilia collection also includes a book detailing the service of the 20th Armored Division in WW2 and the veteran's discharge paperwork. Items are in varying conditions, generally good to very good. The whole of the collection provides excellent provenance for the SS items.
