Description

3/4/25 - This is a potentially very rare and interesting FN Browning High Power variation from World War II. It is serial number '09', and appears to be a variation that was completed in late 1944, immediately after the Germans left the factory. There were only about 500 such pistols produced, made mostly from parts on hand so some have German markings, and this one has a waffen proofed barrel. They were generally given to Allied officers or sold to soldiers. This particular example also appears to have been sent to Canada after the war, with another serial '16108' and circle C marking on underside of slide and frame. The finish on this one is beautiful, and could be original or could've been arsenal re-finished in Canada, we aren't certain. The proof marks are sharp and the bore is terrific. It also has the early grip with red painted backs, and a WaA140 marked magazine. The closest comparison we can find is a previous Rock Island listing, which we've linked here: https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/77/1593/fn-high-power-pistol-s-n-1-documented-w-case.
