Description
7/24/23 - This is a French model 1886/93 Lebel infantry rifle, manufactured in 1890 and featuring a 30" barrel. The primary infantry rifle used by the French Army at the outbreak of WW1, it was truly revolutionary for its time as the first rifle to chamber a smokeless metallic cartridge. The receiver has no bluing left, and is in the white with spotty discoloration and patina throughout. The receiver is stamped ÄúManufacture DÄôA rmes TulleÄù, and "MLE 1886/M93" model names. The Barrel is stamped with the serial number and "MAT 1890", designating that it was manufactured at Tulle in 1890. There is still visible rifling but the bore is very dark and there is pitting throughout. The wood furniture is in good shape overall, with no major damage or cracks, but there are minor dings and imperfections here and there. The forestock is finished with beautiful ornate tiger stripes. Antique so no licensing required.Specifications
