Description
10/23/25 - This is an excellent example of the French Modèle 1892 “Lebel” revolver, produced at the Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Étienne (MAS) and chambered for the 8mm French Ordnance cartridge. Adopted in 1892, this double-action, six-shot revolver became the standard French military sidearm through World War I and remained in service well into the mid-20th century. It features a right-swinging cylinder, robust steel frame, and the high-quality machining typical of French arms of the era. Known for its excellent fit, finish, and smooth action, the M1892 was carried by countless French officers in both world wars and colonial service. A well-made and historically significant revolver, highly regarded among collectors of European military sidearms. This one is all matching and was manufactured in 1922. It has retained about 95% of its original bluing with just minor high edge wear in general and some tiny handling marks and surface scratches here and there. A few small spots of light oxidation. Fitted with period-correct wood grips - noticeable bruises and handling wear, especially on the left side. Excellent bore with strong rifling.
