Description
5/11/26 - This is an excellent example of an Inglis High Power with scarce 'DP' prefix serial number. While there is some uncertainty about the meaning behind the 'DP' prefix found on a handful of these High Powers, Clive Law (Inglis Diamond: The Canadian High Power Pistol) shares that the two theories that exist are that it stands for either "Drilling Pistol" or "Demonstration Pistol". With a majority of these 'DP' pistols being in excellent condition, it is more commonly believed that they were demonstrations as drilling pistols would generally show more wear.
This specific Inglis has retained about 97-98% of its original finish with most loss existing as light high-edge wear. While not finish loss, there are some signs of handling on the firearm. The bore in this High Power is in excellent shape with strong rifling but there are is a small area of minor pitting. The black plastic grip panels on this High Power are in excellent condition with no signs of chips or cracks. This firearm comes with a 'JI' marked, period-correct magazine, which has some light surface rust on the right side and towards the top. It also comes with an original 'S. A. LTD 1945' marked wooden stock that is in excellent condition with no signs of cracks or damage.
