Description

2/16/24 - This is a Walther P.38 with a neat history - It was initially issued to the Nazi military in 1944. It was left over after the war and purchased by the the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). They were not purchased on an official basis, so the numbers are unknown. This one is completely mismatched and has the proper Star of David IDF proof marks. It also has waffen proofs from when it was issued to the Nazi military. These guns are always mismatched as they were put together from left over parts. This particular gun is also featured in Buxton's P.38 book. Photos from the book and more information about this variation are attached to the listing. This gun has retained about half of its original bluing. There is spotty wear and oxidation throughout. The front strap is actually nice. It comes with excellent grips and a period-correct magazine. The bore has strong rifling, but there is minor pitting in the grooves. The gun doesn't function perfectly - when you release the slide, the hammer does not stay back. It automatically comes forward. But you can still pull the hammer back manually.
