Description
5/28/24 - This is an original WW2 production German SA Dagger by August Merten. This is a fairly uncommon / rare maker for these blades with some examples found having the SA motto upside down. This example is all original and correct with the "Alles fur Deutschland" motto facing the right way. The blade is near excellent with shiny finish and some light surface scratches. Natural scabbard rub wear and a few light specks of discoloration but no major issues. Clean unsharpened edge. Visible cross graining throughout. The crossguards are earlier style nickel with some mild surface patina and natural aging but no major issues. The backside of the lower cross guard is Gruppe stamped "Ho" (or He, the second letter is faint). The original wood handle is in great condition but has the initials "R L" scratched into the backside. The SA emblem on the grip has some green verdigris but this is minor. The scabbard is an early brown anodized style with dark surface wear throughout and a small dent on the ball / toe. Great overall condition.Specifications
