Description
9/30/24 - This is an original, early WW2 production M35 Heer Army helmet. This is a desirable variation as it's early war production and still retains both original decals. The helmet also features a dark gray and olive green hand-painted camo style finish. The honest wear with natural age throughout the exterior suggests (or confirms) this was field-applied paint and saw action during the war (as these early helmets often did). The exterior helmet decals are both in 90%+ condition with spotty patina and natural age. The top of the helmet has some rough wear that's affixed to the exterior crown, which appears to be dirt that has fused with rust. The shell is structurally sound in this area and the dirt / wear is on top of the finish. The exterior has a few other small areas of textured wear, mostly near the back visor. The rim of the helmet shows spotty corrosion and natural wear. The interior visor shows more of the same style hand-painted camo, with an "ET 66" maker code and size near the left-ear, and a lot number "4429" along the back visor. There's a name of a veteran who likely captured / brought this helmet home, "Lt. Marcus Konig" hand written along the back visor as well. Nice original liner band with all original rivets in place, and a worn original leather liner is still intact and attached. Correct early style bales, and an original leather chin strap that's maker stamped on one end. Looks like there's a 1939 date under the maker stamp, but the date is faint and hard to read. Overall a rare, early German Army helmet with honest use wear.Specifications
