Description
10/8/24 - This is a scarce variation WW2 Imperial Japanese Police Dirk. The dirk features a rising sun motif on the backstrap of the handle, which is a rare and desirable feature. There's light patina throughout the brass portion of the handle hand guard, backstrap, and pommel but this is natural age and the details are still excellent. The black leather grip has light handling wear and the twisted wire wrap is tight and complete. The blade is excellent and clean with minimal patina and light scabbard rub wear but no notable issues. The edge is unsharpened and comes to a clean pointed tip. The scabbard has a shiny finish congruent with other dress / parade sword and dagger sheaths. We believe this is a nickel/chrome of some sort, and factory original. The scabbard shows some light patina mostly near the corners and edging of the hanger band. Some light surface scuffs as well but no dents or major issues. Functional catch and release button on the side of the handle. A truly excellent example overall and a rare variation. Verified as original by experts.Specifications
