Wilde Tool M1 Garand Bayonet: Uncut

10/8/24 - This is a desirable Wilde Tool M1 Garand Bayonet from early WW2. These are highly sought after by collectors and the rarest maker for M1 Bayonets during WW2. This example is all original and features a 16 inch uncut blade. The blade shows dark, natural surface patina throughout. Dark browning color is mixed within the original finish. The edge shows signs of sharpening, but this looks like it was done a while ago as there's wear and patina overtop of the sharpening marks. There's a few small areas of pinpricking patina as well as a few small nicks, bruises and dings in the metal, but no major unsightly issues. Well marked "WT" with an ordnance stamp and 1942 date. The hand guard is also "WT" stamped on the underside (blade-facing side). Natural patina found on the hand guard and pommel with no signs of arsenal refinish. The handle is worn with some rough texture on one side. This side also has some mild warping and was probably exposed to heat / fire at some point during its life which caused the discoloration and mild warping. The black rectangle is still visible on both sides of the grip, which is another iconic feature of these Wilde Tool bayonets. Comes with an original scabbard as well. Like the blade, the scabbard shows honest surface wear throughout. There's some roughness near the tip, but overall the scabbard is in very good condition and is likely the same scabbard issues with the bayonet. A rare piece of WW2 US history.
